Michael Chi “mczhang” Zhang may currently occupy the number one spot in the UK and Ireland Online Poker Rankings, provided by PocketFives, but his lofty position is under threat from the new UK number two “girafganger7”.
girafganger7 is an extremely talented UK-based Belgian who has topped the worldwide rankings in his career. It is not uncommon to see girafganger7 banking big scores, in fact it’s almost expected. Last week alone, girafganger7 finished second in the PokerStars $1,050 Fast Friday for $18,452, won the partypokerSunday Main Event High Roller for $22,130, was the fourth-place finisher in the partypoker KO Series $150K Mix-Max for more than $11,000 then netted a $12,258 score and another worth more than $17,000!
The rise of girafganger7 means Patrick “pleno1” Leonard dropped one place to third in the UK. This fall happened despite him winning the PokerStars$2,100 Sunday High Roller for $41,580, going to show just how impressive girafganger7’s recent run of form has been.
Jonathan “proudflop” Proudfoot fell to fourth-place this week even though he enjoyed three five-figure scores. The first of these came from winning the partypoker Bounty Hunter: $30K Gtd for more than $10,000. Proudfoot followed that victory up with a win in the PokerStars Bigger $215 worth $17,942 and a fifth-place finish in the $530 Bounty Builder worth more than $13,000.
Another player securing five-figure scores was Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford who was the runner-up in both the PokerStars $1,050 Daily Warm-Up and the $530 Daily 500 for scores of $18,237 and $10,176 respectively.
